    You are bidding on RARE medium hardbound (10-1/2" x 13")piano folio collection of SCRIABIN first edition scores from library of Russian pianist-composer, PAVEL PABST (1854-1897). The bottom of front cover bears his name in Russian, "P.A. PABST." (some pages are loose, pages 42-43 have been taped, last 2 photos have "watermark,"). I am unable to decipher hand written name in photo 3 which appears to be "Beyer."

    Tchaikovsky frequently attended concerts given by Pabst and referred to him as " a pianist of divine elegance" and "a pianist from God." Pabst was considered the greatest Professor of Piano at the Moscow Conservatory. Pabst was also admired by Liszt. Pabst and Rachmaninoff performed many concerts together. Pabst was known for his Tchaikovsky transcriptions but also for his own compositions. He fingered Arensky's piano concerto and was soloist at its premiere. At the invitation of Anton Rubinstein's brother, Nikolai he was invited to teach at the Moscow Conservatory.
