A year before this 8-page booklet was published, Watts performed the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 in Eb as part of Bernstein's Young Peoples Concerts.  A few weeks later, Bernstein asked Watts to fill in for an ailing Glenn Gould on a New York Philharmonic subscription concert.  Watts again played the Liszt.  Soon thereafter, Watts released his debut LP,
The Exciting Debut of André Watts
, which included the Liszt with Bernstein and the NY Phil.
In addition to the article on Watts ("The Sensational Substitute"), this publication includes short articles on the Liszt Concerto, George Szell, Mozart's Jupiter Symphony, The Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Liszt.
