    PUERTO PORTO RICO
    UNITED STATES
    BUSINESS SECTION IN PONCE
Ponce is the chief city on the southern side of Porto Rico and was founded about 1600. This view is a typical scene on one of the main business streets and gives an idea of the characteristic style of buildings. The city has wide clean streets and attractive houses, besides an old church erected more than three hundred years ago. At the time of the Spanish-American War, the only Protestant church in Porto Rico was in Ponce.
